## We got our Flu and COVID-19 boosters 💉 👩‍⚕️

We started off the week by getting our annual flu and COVID-19 boosters. This is always a bit of a gamble for us since sometimes this makes us sick and other times we barely have a reaction to it. This year, Keith had a far stronger reaction than Lindsey.

Lindsey only had mild pain in her arm around the injection site and a small headache for a few days. Keith had a 102°F (38.9°C) fever and lingering effects for most of the week. So, he decided to rest all week to try to fully recover before our planned trip to Snowbird that coming weekend.

## Keith received his Strava: Year in Sport report 🚴‍♂️😮

Keith was excited to receive his annual "[Year in Sport](https://press.strava.com/articles/strava-releases-12th-annual-year-in-sport-trend-report-2025?ref=keithandlindsey.com)" report from [Strava](https://www.strava.com/dashboard?ref=keithandlindsey.com). He was very interested to see just how many miles he had ridden over the course of the year while he was training for, and participating in, the [2025 Tour Divide](https://keithandlindsey.com/keiths-midlife-crisis-racing-the-2024-tour-divide-announcement-part-1-of-2/).

The numbers were HUGE! Keith rode 5,576 miles (8,974 kilometers) with a total elevation gain of 368,819 feet (112,416 meters). That's roughly 1/5th the circumference of the Earth and nearly 13 times the height of Mount Everest! 🤯

## A weekend away at Snowbird ⛷️ ☺️

Our [Snowbird Summit Passes](https://www.snowbird.com/tickets-passes/season-passes/summit-pass/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) come with an amazing perk... a free night at [The Cliff Lodge](https://www.snowbird.com/lodging-amenities/lodging/cliff-lodge/?ref=keithandlindsey.com)! 🙌 So, we decided to spend the weekend away at Snowbird this weekend.

### Staying at the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird 🏨 🏔️

[The Cliff Lodge](https://www.snowbird.com/lodging-amenities/lodging/cliff-lodge/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) is an amazing hotel located at the Snowbird base, it's effectively a ski-in/ski-out hotel. We have stayed here several times thanks to the bonus perks that we get with our ski season passes.

We packed up all of our ski gear and weekender bags then headed up [Little Cottonwood Canyon](https://www.visitsaltlake.com/listing/little-cottonwood-canyon/55176/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) to enjoy the weekend, slope side!

### Dining at SeventyOne at Snowbird 🍔 🍗

We chose to dine at [SeventyOne](https://www.snowbird.com/dining-shopping/dining/dining-overview/seventyone/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) for dinner both nights. Snowbird offers an [assortment of restaurants](https://www.snowbird.com/dining-shopping/dining/dining-overview/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) and we have always enjoyed the quality, value, and convenience provided by SeventyOne. Some of the other restaurants require leaving the hotel or cost significantly more than we want to spend.

On the first night, we shared a Raclette Burger and a Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Both of these meals were delicious. On the second evening, Lindsey ordered the Buffalo Wings and Keith ordered the Jägerschnitzel. Keith said that was the best meal he has had at SeventyOne and it is now one of his favorite meals at Snowbird! 😋

### Relaxing in the pool and hot tubs 🏊 🩱

One of the best benefits of staying at [The Cliff Lodge](https://www.snowbird.com/lodging-amenities/lodging/cliff-lodge/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) is the free access to the heated pool and three hot tubs! You can pay an additional fee to access the [rooftop spa](https://www.snowbird.com/lodging-amenities/the-cliff-spa/spa-overview/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) but we enjoy the lower pools just as much.

The heated pool is the perfect temperature to relax in during the day. From the pool, you can view parts of [Mount Superior](https://www.roadtripryan.com/go/t/utah/wasatch/mount-superior-and-monte-cristo?ref=keithandlindsey.com) and skiers making their way back up the Chickadee lift. The hot tubs are really where it is at though... The facility offers three oversized hot tubs that accommodate around 10-15 people each. We spent the first evening and the second afternoon enjoying those hot tubs.

### First ski days of the 2025-2026 ski season ⛷️ 🏔️

We were both extremely excited to finally get some time on the slopes this weekend. ⛷️ Unfortunately, Utah has had a dismal snowfall so far this year. Snowbird's base in less than 20 inches (50.8 centimeters) which is barely enough snow to cover the rocks. 😥

Because of this low snowfall total, there was only one main set of runs open. Thankfully, Snowbird did open the Tram for lift-served top-to-bottom runs down Regulator Johnson and Big Emma. This at least made for some fun laps throughout our weekend of skiing.

We also met up with our friends Brandon, Kelly, Stephanie, and Anna which made the ski weekend even that much more enjoyable. The ski conditions on Regulator Johnson were surprisingly good. However, as you progressed down the mountain, the rest of the runs were very icy and littered with small rocks. Utah desperately needs snow to save our ski season and replenish our reservoirs for this coming summer. 🙏 ❄️

### Our first visit to "The Nest" at Snowbird 🍩 🍟

One of the highlights of our first ski days of the season was checking out the new "[The Nest](https://www.snowbird.com/dining-shopping/dining/dining-overview/the-nest/?ref=keithandlindsey.com)" mid-mountain restaurant. The Nest is a brand-new mid-mountain restaurant that replaced the aging Mid-Gad Restaurant.

We absolutely love the new upgrade! The Nest is beautiful, inside and out. It's super easier to get into and out of and it has an oversized outdoor patio. The Nest's food selection is also a massive upgrade. Gone are the run-of-the-mill food options. Those have been replaced with fresh, handmade dining options from various ethnicities. There are also several options for desserts if you need to satisfy your sweet tooth.
