Along the way, we stopped at several amazing waterfalls. The [Big Obsidian Flow](https://www.usgs.gov/volcanoes/newberry/big-obsidian-flow?ref=keithandlindsey.com) at [Newberry National Volcanic Monument](https://www.visitbend.com/points-interest/newberry-national-volcanic-monument-newberry-caldera/?ref=keithandlindsey.com). The scale of the lava flow and the sheer amount of obsidian was just mind-blowing. We had two days in Bend, Oregon to relax and explore the area. We sampled some of the local restaurants and coffee shops. What a blast from the past! ![](https://keithandlindsey.com/content/images/2023/09/IMG_9152.webp) ![](https://keithandlindsey.com/content/images/2023/09/IMG_9158.webp) Gallery of visiting the last remaining [Blockbuster](https://bendblockbuster.com/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) in Bend, Oregon ## Visiting the Timberline Lodge at Mount Hood The [Timberline Lodge](https://www.timberlinelodge.com/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) and [Mount Hood](https://traveloregon.com/places-to-go/regions/mt-hood-columbia-river-gorge/?utm%5Factcampaign=10404993327&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9fqnBhDSARIsAHlcQYTJaFk9GhjGe9fELNhQNiR0N0W-37qsddlNx2Z0UBvyW8KfRZkrBSsaAhbnEALw%5FwcB&ref=keithandlindsey.com) were an unexpected treat on this trip. We weren't really sure what to expect since we hadn't done much research on this area. When we arrived, the mountain was enveloped in clouds. We spent some time exploring the world-famous [Timberline Lodge](https://www.timberlinelodge.com/?ref=keithandlindsey.com) and the mountain itself. This is such a beautiful route that runs along the Columbia River which separates Oregon and Washington states. This corridor is also home to hundreds of hiking trails and massive waterfalls, including the famous [Multnomah Falls](https://www.travelportland.com/region/multnomah-falls/?ref=keithandlindsey.com).
