Keith trained on steep gravel climbs 🚡 πŸ˜…

The 2026 Wasatch All-Road gravel race is fast approaching. Keith has continued training on steep local gravel climbs to ensure his legs and lungs are ready for the race.

This week, Keith spent several hours riding up and down every steep gravel climb that he could find in the foothills below Mount Timpanogos. Some of these climbs are seriously steep and chunky, often exceeding 20% grades. These are the perfect types of gravel roads for Keith to simulate what climbing the infamous Wasatch Wall will be like.

Date night dinner at The Olive Garden 🍝 🍰

For date night this week, we went old school OG... Olive Garden, that is. πŸ˜„ Sometimes, it's nice to eat at a classic, familiar restaurant where you know that you are going to get a good meal.

Keith had been wanting to try the Calabrian Steak & Shrimp Bucatini, and we had an unused gift certificate from Christmas last year. So, this was the perfect excuse to enjoy a classic Italian dinner. Lindsey was just as excited for the salad and breadsticks as she was for her Creamy Mushroom Ravioli main course. Both of our meals were delicious! πŸ˜‹ We even managed to save room for a decadent Chocolate Lasagna dessert.

Keith's massive Mineral Basin Road loop ⛰️ βœ…

Keith has been eyeing a massive gravel/mountain biking loop for a couple of years now. This loop starts at our home in Orem, UT, rides around Point of the Mountain in Draper, UT, climbs to the top of Hidden Peak at Snowbird, descends Mineral Basin Road back to American Fork Canyon, and then continues traversing across the Mount Timpanogos foothills before finally descending back down to Orem.

On paper, this route covers 99 miles (159 kilometers) with 12,025 feet (3,665 meters) of climbing. The route has multiple bail-out points once you reach American Fork Canyon, which makes it a great route to really push Keith's limits without putting him in too much danger.

Keith started very early in the morning, 4:07 AM to be exact, and quickly made his way toward Little Cottonwood Canyon. As he approached the canyon, his Wahoo Elemnt Roam bike computer showed an upcoming 6,814-foot (2,077-meter) nearly continuous climb! 😱 Keith proceeded to climb the LCC Quarry Trail, which eventually required some bushwhacking, before reaching the road portion of the climb.

From there, Keith climbed the road past Snowbird and up to Alta. Keith then proceeded to climb the steep, chunky gravel roads up to the top of Hidden Peak at Snowbird. It was at this point that Keith realized the 2026 Cirque Series trail running race was taking place on the same route that he was climbing. So, Keith and roughly 300 trail runners all climbed the trails together!

Upon reaching the Hidden Peak summit, Keith stopped for a quick resupply of water and to grab a sandwich. The extra food was crucial as Keith was about to descend into the unknown along Mineral Basin Road. Keith descended to the bottom of the Mineral Basin ski area, crossed a small stream, and then proceeded to navigate down Mineral Basin Road. This road turned out to be the adventure that Keith expected it to be! The "road" was more like an obstacle course of loose rocks, steep off-camber descents, and tricky technical maneuvers.

Eventually, Keith made it to American Fork Canyon and back down to Tibble Fork Reservoir. It was at this point that Keith had to decide whether or not to climb back up a portion of American Fork Canyon to continue his planned route or head down the canyon and back toward home. Keith was able to determine that Lindsey was still paddleboarding at a nearby park, so he decided to head down and meet up with her rather than pushing through the heat of the day.

All in all, even with the truncated route, Keith still managed to cover 94.7 miles (152.4 kilometers) with 7,854 feet (2,394 meters) of climbing. Keith was feeling surprisingly good at the end of this ride and probably would have continued with more of the route if he hadn't been slowed down so much by the Cirque Series trail runners.

Lindsey went paddle boarding at Highland Glen Park πŸ›Ά πŸ˜„

While Keith was on his big adventure ride, Lindsey was enjoying a relaxing day on the water at Highland Glen Park. It's hard to compete with enjoying an audiobook and leftover Olive Garden while paddleboarding on the water! ☺️

Lindsey is really enjoying being able to get out on our new ZLX paddle boards! It's a great way for her to be able to relax and enjoy the hot Utah summer.

Lindsey's breakfast meetup at Perch Australian Specialty Coffee β˜• πŸ₯

On Sunday, Lindsey met up with her friend Stephanie at Perch Australian Specialty Coffee in Millcreek, UT, to catch up. Lindsey really enjoyed everything about this coffee house, including the atmosphere, coffee, and food selection.

Lindsey ordered a latte and a savory breakfast pastry. The two then proceeded to chat until Stephanie had to leave to pick up Brandon from the airport.
