Keith had a minor crash! 🚵 🤕

Early this week, Keith decided to ride out to the local Valley Vista Trail System to get some much needed dirt laps in. Keith hasn't been able to ride his bike as much as he would like due to being busy at work and resolving some mechanical issues with his bike. So, he was excited to get a few laps in while he could.

Unfortunately, things didn't go quite to plan. His first lap went fine, as usual. So, he started the climb back up to the top for a second lap. About three-quarters of the way up, there is an additional short section of trail that Keith likes to ride before ascending to the top. This trail traverses back and forth across the mountain and has some fun, flowy sections on it. As Keith was leaning into one of the curves, a large rock embedded in the trail suddenly dislodged causing his front wheel to slip out. Keith and his bike came crashing down onto the trail!

Thankfully, Keith was not seriously injured and his bike was not damaged. Keith did end up with some significant road rash on his left arm and a small cut on his knee. His helmet definitely saved his head from smashing onto the rocks near the side of the trail. If Keith would have been wearing his knee and elbow pads then he probably would have walked away unscathed. You know what they say, "if you're going to be stupid, you gotta be tough!" 🤣

Best Sourdough Donut? ☕ 🍩

One of Lindsey's favorite things to do is visit coffee shops. She was able to check another one off her list this week, Honeysuckle Coffee Co. Everything from the baked goods to the coffee syrups are made in-house at Honeysuckle Coffee Co., so she had high expectations and was pretty confident they would be met.

Lindsey had done a little shopping in the morning, so by the time she arrived at Honeysuckle Coffee Co. she was pretty hungry. She ordered the mini quiche and a sourdough donut with her latte. She was pleasantly surprised when the quiche was served with a small salad. The thick balsamic dressing was amazing, and the quiche was flavorful with chorizo, veggies, and cheese. The entire plate was very well balanced and perfect for a savory breakfast.

This visit was starting off strong, but the real winner was the sourdough donut! It was fluffy but slightly dense, and the sugar coating was 360 degrees, ensuring sugar with every bite! She later found out they are only available on Fridays and Saturdays, so she'll be sure to make her next trip on one of those days.

Lindsey is sticking with her cycling goals 🚴‍♀️ ⭐

Lindsey set a goal to ride her bike 10 times this year and she has been sticking to it! 👏 This week, we once again rode out to Utah Lake together. This is a nice, 8.5-mile out-and-back route that ends at the Lindon Beach. This marks Lindsey's third ride so far this year. Hopefully, Lindsey will be ready to ride some of the local mountain bike trails soon.

An old-school ice cream treat 🍨 🚙

We decided to treat ourselves this weekend to ice cream shakes from the Purple Turtle in Pleasant Grove, UT. The Purple Turtle is an old-school diner that serves thick and delicious milkshakes. Lindsey ordered a strawberry cheesecake shake and Keith ordered a fudge brownie shake. Both shakes were rich, flavorful, and everything that we had hoped for. 😋

Fire on the mountain! 🔥 🚒

There have been many fires in Utah again this year. So far, we have been fortunate to have not had many near where we live. This weekend though, that changed as the mountain range a few miles to our south caught on fire. 😔 The Buckley Draw fire has quickly grown to over 400 acres and is not yet contained. We hope that the fire crews are able to get it under control before it has a chance to spread to any of the nearby neighborhoods.
