Lindsey hiked the Bonneville Shoreline Trail πŸ₯Ύ ⛰️

Lindsey started the week strong with her first hike since her knee/blood clot issues. She hiked just over two miles on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Provo, UT. This section of the trail is fairly flat, but does have a couple of hills and some gradual inclines throughout. Her Apple Watch recorded 320 ft. of elevation gain, perfect for her first time out to gain some confidence and endurance.

Keith's "Fast 40" training ride πŸš€ πŸ˜…

Keith kicked off this week with a high-power, fast-paced training ride up Provo Canyon. The goal of this ride was to push higher power over a shorter period of time to stress-test Keith's legs. This type of training will ensure that Keith's legs can withstand the demands of the steep, punchy climbs he will face along the 2026 Wasatch All-Road race route.

The training ride went extremely well! Keith's legs and lungs held up to the demands he put on them. Keith set several personal records along the route, which shows that he is continuing to improve his power output and durability. This is fantastic news for his upcoming gravel races.

Lindsey visited the pool in Pleasant Grove πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ β˜€οΈ

For several summers now, Lindsey has had her eye on the Pleasant Grove Veterans Memorial Pool, and this week she finally made it there! When we lived in PG, our complex had a pool, which was super convenient. Then the PG pool was being remodeled, we moved, she found another public pool she enjoyed, etc.

When Lindsey realized this week that the pools would be closing on weekdays due to school starting, she found Pleasant Grove Veterans Memorial Pool was still open on Tuesday, so she had to check it out. This pool is quite a bit smaller than the one she usually goes to, but it wasn't too busy, and there was plenty of space on the lawn to enjoy an afternoon reading a book and cooling off in the water. She also really enjoyed the mountain view from this pool. The pool she usually goes to, she ends up with her back to the mountain, so this was a big plus.

Date night dinner at PoPIE 1929 πŸ₯§ 🍝

While browsing Google Maps for date-night dinner ideas, we came across a local restaurant that looked unique and intriguing: PoPIE 1929.

PoPIE 1929, in American Fork, UT, offers an assortment of handmade, savory pies along with various rice and noodle dishes. We sampled a variety of their offerings, including the Cream Pie, Curry Pie, and Bulgogi Pie. Keith also ordered the K-Spicy noodle dish while Lindsey opted for a side of the Sweet Potato Cheese Sticks.

Each of the meat pies was fantastic in their own way. We both loved the Curry Pie, and the other two pies were a close second. The K-spicy noodle dish was fantastic! The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the thick sauce was addictively craveable. The Sweet Potato Cheese Sticks were the most unique and delectable cheese sticks we have ever had. This is truly a unique restaurant, and we can't wait to sample more of their menu items in the near future.

Keith's race-pace training ride 🚡 🏁

On Saturday, Keith went out for a final, full-scale training ride before the upcoming 2026 Wasatch All-Road gravel race. For this ride, Keith chose one of his favorite loops that traverses up and over Kyhv Peak Road and back down to Hobble Creek Canyon. However, this ride was not intended to be a scenic endurance ride. Instead, Keith wanted to push himself at his estimated race pace to check where his fitness was.

Keith once again started very early in the morning, 4:02 AM to be exact. πŸ₯± The ride started in the dark and slightly rainy. Keith checked the weather radar before he left, so he knew the storms would be blowing out of the area within the first hour of the ride. Keith made his way up the Lindon Heritage Trail, Murdock Canal Trail, and the Provo River Trail before reaching the Kyhv Peak Road climb.

Keith pushed a steady pace and was able to reach the Kyhv Peak Lookout Point as the sun was starting to rise. After a brief stop to enjoy the view, Keith proceeded to the gravel climb up to the summit. Keith continued to push a steady pace all the way to the Rock Canyon Overlook. Keith then focused on recovery as he descended toward the Rock Canyon Campground. This was the first chance for recovery since starting the Kyhv Peak Road climb! πŸ˜…

The rest of the Kyhv Peak Road climb and traverse seemed to breeze by. It felt like in no time, Keith had reached the Pole Heaven Road descent toward Hobble Creek Canyon. After tackling the fast, loose, and chunky descent, Keith headed straight for his next climb: Left Fork Road in Hobble Creek Canyon. Keith made short work of this climb before descending back down toward Right Fork Road.

This was Keith's first time climbing Right Fork Road. The grade was gentle, and Keith was able to keep a steady pace all the way to the top of the paved road. Keith considered riding up the steeper gravel section, but eventually decided that the remaining route would already push upwards of 100 miles (161 kilometers). So, Keith decided to descend back down the Hobble Creek Canyon Bike Path toward Springville, UT.

The remainder of the ride was an incredibly hot πŸ₯΅ road ride through Springville, UT, Provo, UT, and finally back to Orem, UT. It seemed like Keith managed to hit every red light at every intersection throughout the Provo section. Each time he was stopped, he could feel the heat radiating back up from the road surface. It was so hot that he felt like he was being cooked on a griddle.

All in all, Keith managed to cover 100 miles (161 kilometers) with 6,827 feet (2,081 meters) of climbing in 8 hours and 29 minutes. Keith was thrilled with his performance on this difficult training ride.

Lindsey went paddleboarding at Highland Glen Park πŸ›Ά 😎

After such a wonderful experience last weekend, Lindsey went back to Highland Glen Park to paddleboard on Sunday. She spent her time lounging on the board, listening to an audiobook, and eating some snacks! Her day was cut a little short when an afternoon storm popped up. Even with the storm, it was the perfect way to end the weekend and feel relaxed for the upcoming week.
