Our latest blog post
Blogging from the coffee shop ๐งโ๐ป โ
We started off the week by heading out to Elevated Grounds in Lindon, UT to do some blog work. Sometimes it is just nice to get out of the house and work from somewhere different. Keith has also be improving our home network security so he was looking for an opportunity to test remote connectivity back to our home network.

Elevated Grounds is such a nice, local coffee shop. They have excellent coffee and an always friendly staff. The shop in tucked away in an office park so it doesn't get the same after-hours traffic that many other coffee shops do. That makes it a perfect place to relax/work from.
It finally snowed in the Cottonwoods!!! โ๏ธ ๐๏ธ
Utah has been in a serious drought all winter this year. We have literally shattered the all time record for worst snowfall to date. Thankfully, things have finally started to turn around. The Wasatch Front, and especially the Cottonwood Canyons, got hit with a major winter storm that dumped upwards of 4 feet (122 centimeters) of snow at Alta and Snowbird. ๐ฅณ

Unfortunately, the storm came through in the middle of the week and neither Keith nor Lindsey were able to ski during the storm. We did get to enjoy some pretty good leftovers though that following weekend.
Making a new friend at Snowbird ๐ โท๏ธ
On Saturday, we got up super early so that we could beat the crowds on their way up to Snowbird. After arriving at Snowbird, we headed straight for the tram line so that we could try to get some of the early morning leftovers from the recent storms. While we were waiting in line, we ended up talking to a woman that was standing near us. She is a Utah local but it was her first time at Snowbird.

We ended up showing her around for the entire day. She was an incredibly talented snowboarder! She was able to carve groomers, jump on side hits, and navigate some of the more steep and technical terrain that Keith enjoys. We took her to all three major areas of Snowbird: Peruvian Gulch, Gad Valley, and Mineral Basin. She was so pumped to get to see so much of the mountain and to learn where some of the "locals lines" are. ๐
Lindsey exchanged phone numbers with her so hopefully she will keep in touch next time she comes to Snowbird. She would be a great addition to our friend group.
Post-ski dinner at The Garage Grill ๐๏ธ ๐
After a full day of skiing, we were both starving! We had originally planned to eat dinner at home but we were both too hungry to wait that long. So, we decided to stop at a local favorite, The Garage Grill, in Draper, UT.
If you are a car person, this is the place for you. They have auto racing memorabilia all throughout the restaurant. Oh, and they have several actual race cars up on lifts that you can dine under! ๐คฏ The restaurant serves a huge variety of options from classic American fare (burgers and fries), Mexican-inspired dishes, and event sushi. Everyone is sure to find something that they will like.

For an appetizer, we shared a massive soft pretzel with delicious queso dip. For our main meals, Lindsey order the brisket nachos and Keith ordered a huge burger, topped with some of the same brisket. Neither of us were able to finish our meals which meant we had an awesome snack for the next day. ๐
Round two of skiing at Snowbird โท๏ธ ๐๏ธ
On Sunday, we headed back up to Snowbird to get one last day of ski practice in before our upcoming trip to Red Mountain Resort in Rossland, BC. ๐จ๐ฆ With the limited snowfall this year, we haven't been skiing as much as we normally do so we are both a little nervous about how our leg will hold up to 4 days of skiing.

Sunday was another beautiful day on the mountain. We played it smart and avoided the long lines and crowds at the few primary lifts. Instead, we headed for some of the smaller lifts that we don't typically ski from. It was kind of nice to mix things up and ski some runs that we don't get to that often.
Lindsey's legs were very tired and a little sore from the long day of skiing on Saturday so we didn't stay too long. We ended up leaving around noon and met a few of our friends at Alpha Coffee at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon. We all sat on the outdoor patio and swapped stories as we were catching up. It was a truly fun way to spend the day.
Keith's magical sunset bike ride ๐ดโโ๏ธ ๐
After a day of skiing and hanging out at the coffee shop, Keith still somehow had energy to burn. ๐คช So, he grabbed a quick snack and prepped his bike for a trip up to the Valley Vista Trail System to get a lap or two in before sunset.
Once again, the weather was beautiful and warm for February. Keith made his way up to the Murdock Canal Trail and then on to the Valley Vista Trail System. The trails were technically open but they were too muddy to safely ride, without risking a crash or potential damage to the trails themselves.

So, Keith opted to ride his regular training route out to the mouth of American Fork Canyon, loop around to Highland Glen Park, and the return home. After leaving Highland Glen Park, the sun was really getting low on the horizon and it was starting to get cold. Keith decided to stop to switch to his warmer gloves and to put on his windbreaker jacket. He couldn't have picked a better time to stop...

As he was donning his warm layers, Keith saw the most spectacular sunset that he has seen in years. The sky literally looked like it was on fire! It was incredible. ๐ฎ Keith even captured a short video that really shows just how deep and vibrant the colors were.
