The 2024 Tour Divide race started this week, unfortunately without Keith. 😔 Lindsey is on vacation in Idaho with her friend Tiffany. Keith stayed home to focus on his physical therapy and work.

Keith had a professional bike fitting 🚵‍♂️ 📐

Keith decided to get a professional bike fitting to prevent another knee injury due to improper bike fit. Keith decided to go with Peak State Fit in Salt Lake City, UT as they provide the advanced Retul bike fitting service. Keith was matched with Chris Yeager who has a long resume of fitting professional endurance athletes.

The bike fitting process was very comprehensive. It included an initial physiological analysis to identify any muscle weakness or mobility limitations that may impact Keith's safety and comfort on the bike. Next, Chris discussed Keith's goals for the bike fitting. Finally, Keith was wired up with sensors and the bike fitting process was started.

The results were surprising! Chris lowered Keith's saddle by 25 millimeters, cut his handlebar width down from 800 to 760 millimeters, and moved his aero bar extensions closer to Keith's body by 30 millimeters. These changes are very drastic considering being off by only 5-10 millimeters can result in knee and/or back pain. Chris also fitted Keith with a new set of insoles to help better align and support his feet while pedaling.

Chris asked that Keith ride in this position for the next couple of months to get his body accustomed to it. Keith will then revisit Peak State Fit for a follow-up fitting in about 4-6 months.

The 2024 Tour Divide race started 🚵‍♂️ 😔

The 2024 Tour Divide race officially started on Friday, June 14th at 8:00 AM MDT in Banff, CA. Unfortunately, due to his recent knee injury, Keith was unable to start the race this year. Keith is planning to "dot watch" the racers this year as he finishes his physical therapy and starts planning for the 2025 Tour Divide race.

The weather in the Canada and Montana sections might be brutal for the racers this year. The forecast is calling for abnormally low temperatures and potentially heavy snowfall. We hope that all of the racers are aware and prepared for these weather events. 🙏

Lindsey is in Idaho with her friend, Tiffany ⛰️ 🏊‍♀️

Lindsey is on another amazing vacation! This time, she drove to Idaho to meet up with her friend Tiffany. Tiffany flew in from Indiana and the two are going to explore the Redfish Lake area near Stanley, ID. This trip was originally planned to be part of Lindsey's return drive from Banff, AB if Keith would have started the 2024 Tour Divide.

Keith did not come along on this trip since this was intended to be a "girls trip" so that Lindsey and Tiffany could catch up. Lindsey and Tiffany have been friends for a very long time and they haven't seen each other much since we moved to Utah over 8 years ago. Lindsey will have to tell you more about this trip once she returns later this week.

Pancake breakfast at the Pleasant Grove Fire Department 🚒 🥞

On Saturday morning, Keith attended the annual Pleasant Grove Fire Department pancake breakfast. This breakfast is part of the annual Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days celebration. This year, since Lindsey was in Idaho, Keith decided to ride his bike to the event rather than drive. The roughly 15-mile (24.1-kilometer) route each way was a great way to burn off those delicious pancakes.
