Guardsman Pass opened for the summer ๐Ÿš™ ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

The Guardsman Pass Scenic Backway officially opened for summer travel! Guardsman Pass is a beautiful scenic alpine road that crosses over the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon. This road connects the town of Brighton (on the west side of the Wasatch Mountains) to Park City and Midway (on the east side of the Wasatch Mountains).

Guardsman Pass does not receive any winter maintenance so it is closed throughout most of the winter and early spring. The road is typically opened around Memorial Day weekend each year. We love driving this route and it is on our must-do list for new visitors to our beautiful state. This year was the first time we were around to see the road opened with an abundance of snow still in the area. This made the scenic drive even more incredible.

We stopped for lunch at Tarahumara in Park City. This restaurant offers delicious homemade Mexican dishes along with an amazing salsa and hot sauce bar. The food was so good that we both ended up eating way too much.

To counteract the overeating, we headed to a local park in Heber City to walk off some of our lunch. This was such a great way to spend the day!

Time for some spring cleaning ๐Ÿงน ๐ŸŒท

It's that time of the year again, time for spring cleaning! We always have a lot of dust, spider webs, and Mayflies that cover our front and back porch around this time of the year. In past years, Keith has used a simple extension rod and dusting head to clean the porches as best as he could. However, this year he stepped it up a notch by purchasing a small, electric Ryobi pressure washer. The pressure washer made short work of the cleanup job.

While Keith was in the cleaning mood, he also gave his mountain bike a much-needed wash. This cleaning was necessary as he will take his bike to the professional bike fitting at Peak State Fit next week.

Beach vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama ๐Ÿ–๏ธ ๐Ÿ›ซ

This week was a special one... we celebrated Lindsey's mom's 70th birthday at the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama! ๐Ÿฅณ ๐ŸŽ‚ We stayed with Lindsey's mom and Lindsey's sister and her family at the beautiful Oasis (formerly Phoenix West II) condo on Orange Beach. This trip was full of highlights including parasailing, a sunset sailboat tour, and wonderful days at the beach. The trip also had its share of lowlights including an unexpected overnight stay in Dallas, TX. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ This trip is worthy of a full post so, for now, you can enjoy a sampling of the photos.

After returning home to Utah, we weren't quite ready to give up the vacation life yet. So, this weekend, we treated ourselves to some fancy coffee at Culture Coffee and had some amazing ice cream at Brooker's Founding Flavors. Now, we actually need to start getting ready for the work week ahead. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
