Mountain biking the Kyhv Peak trails 🚵 🥵
Keith has been itching to ride some of the bigger mountain bike trails in our area. So far this Spring, he has been mostly constrained to the lower-elevation trails due to lingering snowpack and water runoff, causing muddy trail conditions. That all changed this week as Keith tackled one of the bigger trail systems in our area: Kyhv Peak.

Keith drove our Jeep to the mouth of Provo Canyon for the start of this loop. Keith then proceeded to climb the Provo River Parkway until it intersected with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail on the south side of the canyon. From there, Keith started the technical, strenuous ascent towards Kyhv Peak road. This trail is truly a beast as it tests both your technical riding skills and physical endurance.

Keith then made the long climb up Kyhv Peak road, along with a quick snack break at the Utah Lake and Rock Canyon overlooks before finally reaching the start of the mountain bike trail descent.

The trail descent didn't start off well, Keith's bike immediately sank into the mud! 🤦 Thankfully, Keith was able to find a water puddle to clean the mud and debris from his bike. The mud only lasted for the first hundred yards or so of the trail, so the rest of the ride was fine. Keith rode some of the actual downhill trail along with parts of the more cross-country style trails. This was a fun way to mix up the descent.
Day Date on the Murdock Canal Trail 🚴♂️ 🚴♀️
For date night this week, we decided to forgo dinner out in favor of a casual bike ride together on the Murdock Canal Trail. The weather was perfect and we both enjoyed the time out together.

We rode a scenic section between the Wade Springs Trailhead and Highland Glen Park. This is a fantastic section of the trail as it has expansive views of the Wasatch Mountains, with a focus on Mount Timpanogos and American Fork Canyon.
Ski season is coming to an end at Snowbird 😎 🪨
The snow is melting, FAST!!! Due to unseasonably warm temperatures, Snowbird has been losing nearly an inch of snow per day. We could clear see just how much snow has melted when we arrived at Snowbird on Saturday morning.

We were greeted with views of ski runs littered with rocks, shrubs, and grasses sticking out. The mountain doesn't typically look like this until late April or early May. Still though, we had a great time skiing the slushy conditions. And, as always, its never really a bad day when you are spending it in the mountains! 🤩
Lindsey's ski binding broke! 🎿 🪛
We headed back up to Snowbird on Sunday to enjoy what might be our last day of skiing for the 2025-2026 ski season. Unfortunately, our day was caught extremely short due to equipment failure. On the first run of the day, Lindsey's binding broke off of her ski!!! 😱

Lindsey had said that she was having trouble turning but Keith thought it was just due to the extremely icy conditions on the slopes that morning. It turns out, that the screws that held the bindings to her skis had been pulling out and finally fully ripped out. This equipment failure caused Lindsey to crash. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt and she was able to safely get down to the chair lift so that we could start our exit off the mountain.

We drove to Level 9 Sports in Millcreek, UT to see if they could repair/replace the failed binding and to determine the cause of the failure. Upon inspection, we found that the bindings on both of her skis were improperly installed! 😡 All of the screws in the toe and heel pieces on both skis were slowly pulling out of the skis.
We are currently going through the warranty process with Backcountry.com, due to Backcountry.com's recent acquisition of Level 9 Sports, to see if they will replace Lindsey's entire set of skis and bindings. We should know in a few days as to what we should expect. 🤞
Lunch at Katrina's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina 🇲🇽 🌯
While we were in Millcreek, UT, we stopped at Katrina's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina for lunch.

Lindsey ordered the shrimp fajitas and Keith ordered the carnitas burrito. Both of our meals were delicious and offered a great distraction from the frustration of Lindsey's broken ski bindings.
