Keith's mid-week bike rides 🚡 🀩

The weather has remained unseasonably warm, so Keith made sure to take full advantage of the spring-like temperatures by riding his bike as much as possible. On Monday, Keith rode a mainly-paved loop between American Fork Canyon and Provo Canyon. Keith stayed on the pavement since trails in the shade still had some mud on them. Typically, Keith chooses to either ride north or south of our house in Orem, UT. However, this time he decided to do both!

Keith was able to get a second mid-week ride in on Thursday. This time, the trails had time to dry out and were ready to ride! Keith climbed up to the Bench Road via the Valley Vista Trails climbing trail. From there, Keith traversed over to then climbed up Sneaky Shiz, a seemingly endless collection ever-steepening switchbacks. πŸ₯΅ Once Keith reached the top, he then followed the Mahogany Mountain South trail to Ava's Way doubletrack until it connected near the mouth of American Fork Canyon. This was definitely a difficult ride but the climbs and descents were so much fun! πŸ˜„

Lindsey's relaxing day out β˜• 🏑

Lindsey has a flexible work schedule and feels she hasn't taken advantage of it lately, so she planned a relaxing day for herself. It technically started the night before with the Love is Blind Season 10 Reunion. This was her first season watching the show. Her cousin lives in Columbus, Ohio, and works with one of the women, so she's had fun chatting about the episodes with her this season. At 10 pm our local time, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4 was released on Hulu. Of course, the thing to do to prepare for the show is to get Swig! Lindsey secured her snacks and planned to stay up late watching a few episodes.

Since Lindsey wasn't working the next day, she slept in and then started her day of relaxing. It worked out perfectly, and by mid-morning, she was headed to Jade's Cafe for brunch. Lindsey had been craving their salmon rillette and, of course, a latte. Visiting cafes is one of her favorite activities. She enjoys this alone just as much as with others. She took her computer to start an upcoming post, too.

Her next stop was at The Dainty Pair Co. This shop opened about a year ago. Although Lindsey's been in the business that previously occupied the space, she knew it would be unrecognizable since the entire building had been remodeled inside and out. The shop sells home decor, gifts, gourmet groceries, etc. The Olive Press Cafe is also located within the building. The sandwiches and sweet treats looked delicious, but she wasn't hungry. It will remain on her "to do" list for another time. Sharing the same parking lot is Beljar Home. Once again, it was relaxing to wander and look around.

Lindsey's final stop would be at the Park City Gardens. The stop features a flower barn, greenhouse, boutique, cafe/coffee, and more! Lindsey planned to pick a couple of plants at the greenhouse, and she found a one-of-a-kind plant. Ok, maybe not, but it was the last one in the greenhouse. She discovered this after another shopper wanted the same plant. A unique feature of the greenhouse is the seating throughout. She saw a couple on a date with their treats from the cafe and another person working on their computer. What a great place to spend time. It was enjoyable to explore each building and the property as a whole. Lindsey's day out was successful and a reminder to take time to do what you love!

Date night... steak night! πŸ₯© 😘

For date night this week, we headed to Texas Roadhouse. We haven't been to a traditional steakhouse in quite some time so we were both excited to eat some delicious steak and sides.

We each ordered a steak along with one of the available pairings, to be shared. Keith ordered the side of ribs and Lindsey ordered the shrimp skewers. This was the perfect way to sample all of the bests offerings in one meal. The steaks were both perfectly cooked, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The meal was fantastic and we both had enough left over to enjoy a second dinner the next day. πŸ˜‹

The overall experience at Texas Roadhouse was interesting... There must have been five or six birthday parties happening so there was a lot of shouting "yee-haw!" by the staff. Also, at one point during our meal, the staff all started line dancing! 🀠

One cold and windy ride πŸ₯Ά 🌬️

We ended up not skiing this weekend because the snow conditions have not been great. The unseasonably warm temperatures during the day have caused a lot of severe freeze-thaw cycles which has resulted in very icy ski slopes. A few of our friends went and they all complained about how awful the conditions were. πŸ‘Ž

Since we didn't ski, Keith decided to get one more bike ride in this week. A cold front had moved in which dropped the temperatures to nearly 40Β°F (4.4Β°C). This, combined with 20+mph (32 kph) winds made for a very chilly ride. This didn't stop Keith though as he made his way up to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Provo Canyon.

Keith rode one of his favorite Tour Divide training loops. This loop includes a seriously steep climb, a 15-20% grade, up to the main gravel trail, which is then followed by a chunky, loose descent back down Dragon's Back to the Provo River Parkway. This route was so much easier without 50+ pounds (22.7 kilograms) worth of gear on his bike! πŸ˜…
