Lindsey's boot fitting and picking up Keith's skis 🎿 📏

Lindsey purchased new ski boots last season. The boots were properly sized for her feet, but she did not have a formal boot fitting at the time of purchase. She attempted to "break in" the boots by just skiing in them. Unfortunately, this did not work, and she skied most of the season in some pain.

To correct this, we scheduled a formal boot fitting with a professional boot fitter at Level Nine Sports in Millcreek, UT. The boot fitter was fantastic! He was able to quickly diagnose the pressure points on Lindsey's feet. He then heat-molded the boot liners so that they were properly shaped to her foot structure. Almost immediately, Lindsey began to feel how much better her boots fit. Hopefully, this will allow her to ski pain-free this season. 🤞

While we were there, Keith also picked up his new Moment Deathwish 112 skis. The ski shop mounted his Salomon Shift v2 bindings and also applied the DPS Phantom Glide permanent wax system. Keith's skis are ready to go... as soon as we get some snow! ❄️ 🙏

Dinner at Maize Tacos 🌮 🇲🇽

On the way home from Level Nine Sports, we decided to grab dinner at one of our favorite fast-casual Mexican restaurants, Maize Tacos in Draper, UT. This place has fantastic birria tacos and massive loaded nachos. 😋

Lindsey's birthday celebration 🎂 🥳

The highlight of the week was celebrating Lindsey's birthday! 🙌

Birthday presents 🎁 ☕

Lindsey was super excited to open her birthday present this year. She had asked for only one thing from Keith: a beautiful ski coffee mug from Etsy. However, when her birthday present arrived on our front porch, the package size and shape didn't match at all what she was expecting. 😕

As she opened her present, she was relieved to see that Keith did, in fact, order the mug she wanted. 😅 The reason for the box shape and size discrepancy was that Keith had also ordered the matching serving tray and nut bowls. Lindsey now has everything she needs to enjoy a morning coffee and a "girl dinner" (e.g., snack tray).

Lindsey also took advantage of the local restaurant apps through their birthday gift certificates and promotions. She was excited to get free snacks and drinks at some of her favorite local restaurants. Lindsey also received gifts from her niece and nephew.

Birthday dinner at Mar | Muntanya in Salt Lake City, UT 🥘 🇪🇸

For Lindsey's birthday dinner, Keith wanted to recreate one of her favorite dining experiences while hiking the Camino de Santiago in Portugal and Spain. During this trip, we dined at a Spanish tapas bar that served an amazing selection of small plates.

Keith searched around the Salt Lake City area and eventually discovered Mar | Muntanya, a Spanish tapas restaurant located on the 6th floor of the Hyatt Regency in downtown Salt Lake City. This was the perfect place to celebrate Lindsey's birthday. Before arrival, we placed an order for their paella special. We were both really looking forward to the paella being our main course.

We started the evening with a glass of white sangria for Lindsey. This was followed by an assortment of tapas plates which included artisanal sourdough bread, Spanish chorizo, a tomato and fruit salad, and an Octopus tentacle. This was quite the way to start the meal.

Eventually, the main dish arrived, the paella! 🥘 The paella was delicious and included an assortment of cured meats and shrimp along with saffron-infused infused crusty rice. Yum!

Finally, we ended the meal by sharing the dulce-stuffed churro dessert plate. These churros were incredible! It was the perfect way to wrap up a wonderful meal.

Before leaving the restaurant, we walked out to the outdoor patio area to get a sneak peek at the Alpenglobes and Yurt that are available for rent. This was such a fun restaurant and a great place to celebrate Lindsey's birthday! 🥳

Day out in Salt Lake City with Stephanie and Anna ☕ 📚

On Sunday, we met up with our friends Stephanie and Anna to spend the day checking out various stores in the Salt Lake City area.

Coffee stop at Tres Gatos Coffee in Midvale, UT ☕ 🐱

To kick things off, we headed to Tres Gatos Coffee in Midvale, UT. This locally owned coffee shop serves delicious coffee and is known for its house-made matcha. We each ordered a coffee drink to go after checking out the shop. The coffee was delicious, with just the right amount of flavor and smoothness.

Pasties and Donuts at Dough Miner in Salt Lake City, UT 🍩 🥟

After picking up our morning coffees, we headed to the Dough Miner in Salt Lake City, UT, for breakfast! This local establishment is known for the "pasties" (pronounced "pass-tees"), which are a type of savory hand pie. We were all looking forward to sampling the pasties.

The real surprise came when we caught a glimpse of the MASSIVE doughnuts! 🍩 I am not exaggerating when I say that these doughnuts were roughly four times the size of a typical doughnut. 🤯 Lindsey and Keith shared a pastie and a custard-filled doughnut, which was more than enough for two people. All four of us also shared our doughnuts since they were big enough to cut into fourths!

Both the pasties and the doughnuts were outstanding. This is definitely a don't-miss spot if you are visiting the Salt Lake City area.

Romance Novels at Lovebound Library in Salt Lake City, UT ❤️ 📚

After having our fill of breakfast, we headed to Lovebound Library in Salt Lake City, UT. This is a romance-novel-focused, locally-owned bookstore. This isn't really a place that we would typically visit, but it was neat to see the well-thought-out shop and the interesting selection of books available for purchase.

Fantasy Novels at Legendarium in Salt Lake City, UT ⚔️ 🎲

Next, we walked over to Legendarium, a fantasy/science-fiction focused bookstore. This was closer to Keith's type of place than Lindsey's. The store had a vast selection of classic and modern science fiction novels to choose from. They also provided a coffee shop and activity areas throughout the store.

Snowbird Passholder T-Shirt Pickup 🏔️👕

To wrap up the day, we headed up to Snowbird to pick up our season passholder t-shirts. The drive up to and down from the resort was interesting due to the heavy layer of fog/clouds that had engulfed the valley floor and part of the canyon road.

While we were there, we met up with Brandon and Kelly, and we also picked up our UDOT canyon sticker so that we can be pre-authorized to enter the canyons during winter weather scenarios.
