2024-2025 Ski Season Kickoff! ⛷️ 🥳
The 2024-2025 ski season at Snowbird has officially started and we couldn't be more excited to get back on the slopes. This season is full of new upgrades including a brand new Wilbere chair lift and a new Mid-Gad Restaurant (coming in the 2025-2026 season). We were excited to receive a t-shirt commemorating the new Wilbere lift.
We skied on Thursday and Sunday this week. Thursday was the official opening day so we didn't want to miss out on the festivities. This year, there was a Red Bull Party Truck with a DJ in the back! 🎧 The snow was really good on Thursday but, since this is very early in the season, there was only a small amount of terrain open in Gad Valley. The day went great except for Lindsey having some fit issues with her new ski boots and Keith had a slow-speed wipeout that resulted in him tearing his new ski pants. 😞
A lot of the fresh snow had melted by Sunday. This led to even less terrain being available. On the bright side, Lindsey was able to greatly improve her ski boot fitment issues and Keith was able to find some Gore-TEX Fabric Patches to repair the rips in his pants. Now, all we need is more snow but, unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. Pray for snow! 🙏❄️
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 🍽️
Each year, Keith typically cooks some sort of themed Thanksgiving meal. Unfortunately, he has been very busy this year and didn't have much time to prepare a meal plan. Also, the opening day of ski season fell on Thanksgiving and we didn't want to have to cut our first ski day short. So, we decided to forego the complications of trying to prepare a large, themed meal. Instead, we decided to indulge in some of the remaining Omaha Steaks meals that Keith's parents send to us each Christmas.
Keith fixed a delicious steak dinner which included a twice-baked potato and creamed corn. Lindsey also picked up a small pumpkin pie for us to enjoy. I mean, is it really Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie? 🤣 The next morning, Lindsey kept with the theme of indulgence by fixing a delicious biscuits and gravy breakfast!
More training rides 🚵 😅
Keith has continued with his workout and training ride plans for his upcoming Tour Divide 2025 attempt. This week, Keith focused primarily on weightlifting as he continues to build his base strength. He was also able to get outdoors to enjoy a beautiful winter day. He rode up to the local Bonneville Shoreline Trailhead so that he could get a little more gravel riding practice while the weather cooperated.
A Christmas Carol 🎄🎭
This week was capped off by an amazing presentation of the classic play, A Christmas Carol, at the Hale Center Theater in Sandy, UT. The play was wonderful! It had the perfect mix of a classic storyline, amazing singing/acting, beautiful scenery, and perfectly executed special effects. Unfortunately, photography/videography is forbidden during the show so we couldn't capture any of it to share with you.
