Meet and greet with Syd & Macky at Ari Bikes π΅ββοΈ π€©
We were so excited when we found out that we had the opportunity to meet Syd & Macky (of YouTube MTB fame) this week at an Ari Bikes event. The event originally included a group ride at our local Valley Vista trails, but unfortunately that was canceled due to Hurricane Rachel.
The event was held at Ari HQ in Lindon, UT. The event included a screening of the raw footage from Macky's most recent ride at the Mountain of Hell race, followed by a Q&A session and meet-and-greet. Ari also gave us a sneak peek at one of their prototype bikes, but that has to stay a secret for now. π€«

It was so much fun getting to chat with Syd and Macky. They are truly wonderful people and incredible riders/racers. Hopefully, we will get another opportunity to meet up with them again in the future.
Keith had a PRP injection on his knee π π¨ββοΈ
Keith has dealt with lingering pain during ski season for the past few seasons. This year, he decided to finally have it looked at by Dr. Chappell at In2It Medical.
Dr. Chappell quickly diagnosed some degeneration in Keith's meniscus and a nearby enlarged muscle that was pressing on the meniscus. He suggested a PRP injection to allow the meniscus to fully heal and to help shrink the enlarged muscle to its normal size. The PRP injection will fully repair the meniscus and hopefully eliminate the added pressure on it.

Keith had the PRP injection on Thursday, and he expected to have a very painful recovery weekend. Surprisingly, Keith never really experienced any serious pain. π€― He was up and walking around on it by the next day. This shocked us, since we had planned for Keith to be couch-ridden for most of the weekend.
Snow in the Wasatch Mountains βοΈ β·οΈ
Thanks to Hurricane Rachel, Utah's Wasatch Mountains received a significant amount of October snowfall. We enjoyed the snow from a distance, but others took it as a sign to start ski season. We saw several social media posts of people skiing at Alta and surrounding resorts. We even saw a few very crazy π€ͺ, I mean adventurous, people skiing big lines such as Alf's High Rustler (High Boy) and Main Chute! π€―

Brunch date in Midway, UT π π
Since Keith was feeling so well after his PRP injection, we decided to have a nice, relaxing brunch date together on Saturday. Lindsey has been wanting to check out the Midway Bakery for a long time now, especially since Keith has visited it several times while out on his long bike rides. π
We started the morning by driving to the Midway Bakery to sample a collection of their humongous sweet rolls. We couldn't decide which to choose, so we bought one of each! π We ordered a cinnamon roll, berry bun, pecan roll, and the seasonal pumpkin bun. Each was delicious, and ordering them all gave us the chance to sample each and bring plenty home for small treats over the next few days.

After enjoying our breakfast treats, we headed up the Cascade Springs loop to enjoy the remaining fall colors against the snow-capped peaks. π The drive was the perfect way to enjoy the end of the fall colors in Utah. We also saw an Olympic athlete training πΊπΈ and some artists painting π¨ during the drive.

Lindsey hiked Dry Canyon π₯Ύ β°οΈ
Lindsey recently created a workout plan to get back in shape for ski season. Between the LCL injury and the blood clot, she's lost strength, mobility, and endurance. Her plan incorporates a weekly hike. Since Keith felt good after his PRP injection, Lindsey was able to hike on Sunday.
Her plan included hiking Dry Canyon Trail for its steepness and convenient location. The trail is 5.7 miles (9.2 kilometers) with 2874 feet (876 meters) of elevation gain. However, she's working on elevation gain over a shorter distance; therefore, her goal wasn't to complete the hike.

Lindsey's goal was to get 600-700 feet (183 - 213 meters) of elevation gain. Since the trail was steeper than she expected, she hit her goal after only 1 mile! It was hard to turn back, but she chose to trust her plan. She's excited to see how this trail will get easier with time and help her overcome current weaknesses.
