This week, we are starting to get back to our regular routines after returning from our Camino De Santiago, Portuguese Route trip. This includes physical recovery from the hike / long travel days and mental recovery from the overload of new experiences during this trip.
Check out our new posts and videos π π₯ π
Keith is back to riding again π΅ π
One thing was apparent during our Camino De Santiago, Portuguese Route trip... Keith missed riding his bike! We saw a lot of bikepackers riding the Camino route during our trip, and Keith was always eyeing their bikes and talking about wanting to ride the route sometime. Now that we have returned home, Keith has returned to riding, both indoors on Zwift and outdoors on the local mountain biking trails.
This week, Keith headed to Lehi, UT to check out Lehi's Dream, a new downhill-only mountain bike trail. The trail description said that it contains several advanced/expert-level features, and they were not joking! This trail contains some of the most difficult features that Keith has ever experienced. The features were so difficult that Keith couldn't even check out the expert line, and the advanced line ride-around required Keith to dismount and walk several times.
Unfortunately, it was difficult to snap any pictures of the new downhill trail due to several other riders also riding the trail. So, most of the pictures in the gallery above are from the surrounding trails that Keith took to reach Lehi's Dream.
Keith connected his walking pad to Zwift πΆββοΈπ€
Keith has decided that he will continue to use his Lichico Under Desk Treadmill now that we have returned from our Camino De Santiago, Portuguese Route trip. Keith likes the ability to walk while working as it allows him to stretch his legs, burn off some excess energy, and keep his body from tightening up from sitting in his office chair all day.
One thing that was bothering him, though, was that he was not able to track his indoor walks or get an accurate step count since his hands and fitness watch were often stationary on his keyboard. Keith has since discovered that his walking pad can connect to Zwift thus allowing him to track his walking speed, time, and distance. π Keith has also ordered the Zwift RunPod to allow for accurate step tracking and walking cadence so that all of his tracked data will be as accurate as possible. It will be interesting to see how many miles Keith can rack up during the work week.
Going through our trip photos π©βπ» π·
We spent an afternoon at the James & Joan Coffee Co. going through the thousands of photos that we took during our Camino De Santiago, Portuguese Route trip. There are so many amazing memories captured in these photos. π The first step of going through them is to delete all of the duplicates and bad photos (e.g. blurry, accidental, etc.). To make this process a little less tedious we decided to treat ourselves to a delicious latte and sweet treat!
A major winter storm hit Utah's mountains! ποΈπ¨οΈ
Utah had been experiencing warmer-than-usual weather this fall, but things changed quickly this week. A major winter storm hit Utah's mountains and higher-elevation towns, dumping up to several feet of snow at the highest elevations. Seeing the snowfall gets us excited for the upcoming ski season! β·οΈ
Checking out a local Turkish Coffee spot β πΉπ·
On Saturday, we spent the morning, and early afternoon π, hanging out with one of our friends at a local Turkish coffee spot called Kahve Cafe in Salt Lake City, UT. If you aren't familiar with it, Turkish coffee is brewed and served uniquely from traditional coffee/espresso drinks.
Turkish coffee is brewed in a metal brewing pot that is placed in a bed of heated sand. Once heated, both the liquid coffee and grounds are poured into a serving cup. The grounds are then allowed time to settle to the bottom of the cup before drinking. This process creates an incredibly rich coffee-drinking experience.
Kahve Cafe is also known for its unique selection of homemade sweet and savory baked goods as well as an assortment of gourmet teas. We, of course, had to sample a little bit of everything while we were there. π
The cafe itself is just as unique as its offerings. The cafe is located in an old converted home. Every room throughout the three-story building has been converted into a chill hangout spot where customers can relax and enjoy their coffee. We spent several hours hanging out in the various rooms as we chatted the day away with our friend.
