A new way to search our site 🕵️ 🔎

This week, Keith enabled a new "Advanced Search" feature for our site. This new feature was made available by the Magic Pages hosting developers. The advanced search functionality offers full-text search across all content on our site. This is a significant improvement over the default search functionality provided by Ghost CMS, which only searched titles, excerpts, and other structural content. You can trigger the new search feature by clicking on the "🔍 Search" button in the header of our site or via the keyboard shortcut "cmd/ctrl + f".

Keith is on L2 Support again 🧑‍💻 🆘

The company Keith works for requires all engineers and managers to be part of an "L2 Support Rotation". This means that once every 6 weeks or so, Keith will be assigned the L2 Support role for his team.

During this week's support shift, Keith focused on staying fit and preparing his body for the upcoming Utah ski season. Keith walked a total of 10 miles, virtually rode 38 miles (61 kilometers) with 2,553 feet (778 meters) of elevation gain, and strength trained for 4 hours. Not too bad! 😅

Local Halloween haunts of Utah County 👻 🎃

One of our favorite Halloween activities is to drive around and check out the local Halloween haunts that random people put together at their homes across Utah County. Lindsey looked through the 2025 Utah Halloweed Map, provided by the local KSL news station, to find the perfect route for us.

We visited 6 different local attractions during our night out. Our first stop kicked the evening off with a bang! A local family had created an entire haunted house in their garage and back yard. It was amazing to see how much work they put in to a free-to-visit attraction.

The remainder of the stops included a massive Halloween figure display, a house with creepy eyes, a backyard haunted path, and a whole-home projection system. Lindsey did an excellent job of finding us a fun and unique route to enjoy the local Halloween attractions.

Ski gear prep for the upcoming Utah 2026 ski season 🔧 🎿

Keith's new Moment Deathwish 112 skis, Salomon Shift2 bindings, and Pomoca Tour Pro skins arrived this week. We were excited to take them to the Level Nine Sports in Millcreek, UT to have the bindings mounted and DPS Phantom Glide applied (a type of permanent ski wax).

Keith also took his old Armada Tracer 108 skis in to get a second opinion on whether or not they were repairable. Unfortunately, the shop informed Keith that the base was actually cracked! 😨 The shop could repair the skis but it would cost at least $150 USD and the fix would not be guaranteed. So, Keith asked them to remove the Armada Shift bindings from the skis so that he could either sell the bindings or use them for a second touring set of skis.

While we were at the shop, we also planned to get a boot fitting for Lindsey. Lindsey has been dealing with some pain and discomfort from the new Salomon S-Pro Supra boots that she purchased last season. Unfortunately, the shop was extremely busy and wasn't able to fit Lindsey in for a walk-in boot fitting. So, we had to reschedule for a couple weeks from now. It's not a big deal though since we have to drive back up the shop to pick up Keith's skis anyway.

Dinner with friends at Katrina's Mexican Restaurant 🌮 🇲🇽

Since we weren't able to get Lindsey's boot fitting, we were wrapped up at Level Nine Sports must sooner than we had originally planned. So, we contacted our friends Stephanie and Brandon, who live close by, to see if they want to go out to an early dinner with us.

We met them at Katrina's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Millcreek, UT. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the overall experience was wonderful. Unfortunately, we were all so busy talking and eating that nobody took any pictures of the food. 🤦

Fixing a chip in the Jeep's windshield 🧰 💧

A few weeks ago, a rock hit the Jeep's windshield and put a sizable chip in it. 😔 Keith took the Jeep to a local Safelite auto glass repair shop to have it repaired. The service rep took a look at the Jeep, told Keith that the chip was repairable, but then told him that it would cost $226 if he didn't want to use his insurance! 💸 The service rep recommended that Keith find another repair shop since "Safelite charges more than double what most other local shops charge". Keith took the service rep's advice and looked for an alternative way to repair the chip.

Keith found that there are several glass chip repair kits sold on Amazon that all seemed to have decent reviews. One specific kit, the Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit, appeared to be very easy to use and most reviews were very positive. Also, this kit was less than $12.00 USD, over $200.00 USD less than Safelite quoted for the repair.

Keith took the chance on the Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit and the results were great. The chip was very deep and Keith didn't expect the repair to be invisible. Keith was mainly concerned with filling in the chip and preventing it from eventually cracking the windshield. The repaired area is now smooth to the touch and the chip is completely filled in. Overall, Keith would consider this a successful, low-cost, easy to implement repair kit.
