Warren Miller's "75" ⛷️ 🎥

Each year, we plan to attend the screening of the latest Warren Miller ski film. This year, the movie was titled "75" for the 75th anniversary of Warren Miller Films. The film tour makes a stop at the local-to-us Clarke Grand Theater at the Scera Center for Performing Arts in Orem, UT.

This year's film highlighted diversity and inclusion in the ski and snowboard industry. Some of the segments focused on traditional, big-mountain skiing. However, other segments highlighted the unique ways that inner-city kids learn to ski and snowboard such as building jumps in local parks or visiting indoor ski areas.

Attending the Warren Miller film also comes with some added perks. Specifically, entry into the nationwide raffle for some amazing prizes. The prizes range from ski gear, ski lessons, meetups with famous skiers, and even all-expenses paid ski trips to various destinations around the globe. We have our fingers crossed that we win big this year! 🤞

New ski equipment 🎿 🧥

Shortly after moving to Utah, we both purchased new ski gear that was more suitable for the big mountain skiing available in the Wasatch Mountain Range. We have now been in Utah for over 8 years and we are still using the same gear (for the most part)!

Keith bought a different set of skis a couple of years ago to allow him to both resort ski and backcountry ski. Lindsey also bought some new outerwear and a helmet last year. The rest of our gear is getting pretty old and becoming a liability for both of us. Keith's ski clothing is on its last leg. He has sewn it together so many times that the material itself is starting to fall apart. Lindsey's skis and boots are also getting old and worn out. This year, it's time for an upgrade for both of us. 😄 💸

We decided to head to Level Nine Sports in downtown Salt Lake City to see what kind of deals we could find. We have always had great luck at this store and the staff are extremely helpful and informative.

Lindsey was able to find a nice set of K2 Mindbender 106 skis and a sweet deal on a set of Salomon S-Pro Supra ski boots. This will be a huge upgrade for her. We had to leave her gear at the store to have the bindings mounted and DPS Phantom Glide permanent ski wax applied. We will share some better pics once we pick it all up.

Keith also stumbled across a matching set of Scott outwear including a SCOTT Vertic GORE-TEX 2 Layer Men's Jacket (primary ski jacket), SCOTT Explorair Softshell Men's Jacket (spring/backcountry jacket), and SCOTT Ultimate Dryo 10 Men's Pants for over 50% off the retail price. This is a huge savings considering the expense of modern ski gear. Keith also picked up a new Smith Level helmet with Mips protection since ski helmets are supposed to be replaced every 5-7 years. Now, Keith just needs to find a set of goggles that he likes and he will be ready to shred the slopes!

Yoko Taco 🌮 😋

After a hard day of shopping for ski gear 🤣... we needed to refuel so we headed to Yoko Taco. The restaurant is a short walk from Level Nine Sports in downtown Salt Lake City, UT. Yoko Taco serves traditional street tacos along with a variety of other Mexican dishes. Keith ordered a selection of their street tacos and Lindsey ordered a burrito. The meat was so incredibly flavorful and the toppings made for the perfect bite. We both left with full stomachs and smiles on our faces.

Ruby Snap Cookies 🍪 😋

On the walk back to our vehicle from Yoko Taco, we decided to stop at Ruby Snap to pick up a box of cookies for the road. 😋 Neither of us could handle eating a cookie after filling our stomachs with tacos and burritos. However, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to try some of Salt Lake's original cookie store cookies. We ordered a half-dozen cookies which gave us a wide variety to choose from. So far, we have tasted two of the six cookies and they were both delicious! We can't wait to try the rest.
