We are so grateful to have spent another week together with Keith's parents! 🙏 This week, we biked 🚲, ate some delicious food 😋, played Top Golf 🏌️, and enjoyed one last sunset together 🌄.

Post 2: Banff: Canyon, Cruise, and Captivating Landscape
Keith and Lindsey explored Banff, Canada, before the start of the Tour Divide Race. This included hiking, biking, and a cruise!

Our latest blog post

Biking on the Murdock Canal Trail 🚲 ⛰️

Keith's mom and dad were looking forward to riding their bikes while in Utah. Thankfully, the winter storm from last week subsided, and the weather started to warm again. The cooler temperatures, with plenty of sunshine, made for the perfect fall riding conditions.

Keith planned a roughly 15-mile (24-kilometer) out-and-back route between Lindon, UT, and Highland, UT, along the Murdock Canal Trail. This section of the trail is relatively flat and has amazing views of Mount Timpanogos to the east and Utah Lake to the west.

Everyone really enjoyed the route, but we all needed a rest when we got back home. We couldn't have asked for a better day to ride bikes together.

Breakfast at Jade's Cafe 🥐 ☕

Since Keith's parents arrived in Utah, we have been talking about getting the amazing cinnamon rolls from the Midway Bakery for breakfast. We tried to visit the bakery on Tuesday, but unfortunately, they are closed on Tuesdays! So, we consulted Lindsey's list of restaurants that she wants to visit to find an alternative. This led us to drive to Jade's Cafe in Heber City, UT... which turned out to be incredible!

As Lindsey put it, Jade's has all of the necessary components of an outstanding coffee shop: great coffee, excellent sweets/treats, quality savory meals, great ambiance, and a view. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised by Jade's cafe, and we are looking forward to visiting again the next time we are in Heber City.

As we were leaving Jade's Cafe, we checked out the attached home store, Nomad Soul Interiors. Keith's mom purchased a matching set of geode halves, one for them and one for us, so that we would have a remembrance of their visit. What a great gift!

Exploring Midway, UT 🕰️ 🏊

After our delicious breakfast, we headed back to Midway, UT, so that Keith's mom could shop for a Christmas ornament. First, though, we made a quick stop at Homestead Resort to check out their new year-round pools and hot tubs.

We then made our way to downtown Midway, where we were treated to a demonstration of the town's enormous Cuckoo-style clock. We then headed into Midway Must-Haves where Keith's mom was able to find the perfect ornament for her Christmas tree.

Fun day of games at Top Golf 🏌️ ⛳

On a prior visit to Utah, Keith's mom and dad really enjoyed the day we all played Top Golf together. Back then, the nearest Top Golf was in Midvale, UT, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) away. Now, however, we are fortunate to have a new Top Golf location in Vineyard, UT, just a few miles from our home.

The weather was once again fantastic, and we had amazing views of Mount Timpanogos, Provo Canyon, and the "Y" Mountain while we played. We played a variety of games, including regular Top Golf and Angry Birds. We also indulged in some delicious food and drinks while we played. Overall, it was a fantastic day out together.

Afterward, we headed back to our house to spend some time with Keith's parents' dog, Lucy. It wasn't long before everyone was taking a nap... even Lucy!

Dinner out at Feast Buffet 🍜 🍣

Keith's dad had mentioned that he wanted to get some good Chinese food during their trip. So, for our last dinner together, we headed to Feast Buffet in Orem, UT.

Feast Buffet offers a huge assortment of pre-made options, including all of the standard American/Chinese fare such as General Tso's Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Egg Drop Soup, etc. The buffet includes a full Mongolian Grill option where you choose all the raw ingredients, noodles, and sauces, then a chef grills the meal right in front of you. If that wasn't enough, the buffet also includes a large selection of sushi and a dessert bar! Let's just say that we all left very stuffed and very satisfied.

Enjoying the sunset atop Kyhv Peak 🌄 ⛰️

On our way back to drop off Keith's parents at their RV site, we decided to make one last scenic stop. We drove up Kyhv Peak Road to the scenic viewpoint that overlooks Utah Lake and the surrounding valley.

We couldn't have timed it any better. A few minutes after we arrived, the sun started to set, and we were all in awe of the beautiful panoramic views from the overlook. This was the perfect spot to get one last family picture together.

Saying goodbye to Keith's parents 🚐 👋

Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end. It was time to drop off Keith's parents for the last time before they started on their 2+ day trip back to Indiana. We were able to spend a couple of hours together in their motorhome playing games and spending time with Lucy.

We are so grateful to have been able to spend so much time together during their trip to Utah. Everything just seemed to work out, including their great campsite, the beautiful weather, all of our planned and unplanned activities, and our vacation schedules. We can't thank them enough for making the journey out to Utah, and we can't wait to see them again!
