Fall colors in Big Cottonwood Canyon 🍁 🛣️
To kick off the week of leaf peeping, we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon to drive over Guardsman Pass into Park City. This route takes you up and over the Wasatch Mountain Range.

Approaching the mountains, we could already see a lovely mix of reds and yellows. As you rise in elevation during the drive, you eventually reach the high-alpine Aspen trees, which turn a magnificent golden color each year! This is a must-do driving loop if you are into leaf peeping.
Jamaican dinner in Park City 🍗 🏝️
We were both getting hungry when we arrived in Park City. Lindsey had found a unique Jamaican restaurant, 11 Hauz, that she wanted to try, so we headed directly there. The restaurant was tucked back in an outdoor shopping center that neither of us had ever been to before. It was exciting to discover this new area of Park City.

The food was amazing and the atmosphere was wonderful. This is truly a hidden gem in Park City. Everything was hand-prepared and hand-cooked by a family of Jamaicans. Keith ordered the Jerk Chicken plate while Lindsey ordered the Jerk Chicken Wings and a side of fried plantains. The jerk flavors were incredible, and everything was cooked to perfection. We will definitely have to visit this restaurant again in the near future.
Riding in the Timpanogos Wilderness 🚵 ⛰️
Keith wanted to get some singletrack mountain biking practice in this week before his planned ride of the Wasatch Crest trail with his friend Brandon on Saturday. So, Keith headed up to the Timpanogos Wilderness Area on the south side of Mount Timpanogos.

This trail network has a vast array of climbing trails, mixed-use trails, and mountain bike-focused trails. This is the perfect area to work on all of Keith's mountain biking skills. Keith climbed the Swift Ridge trail up to the high point of the Black Bear trail. From there, Keith descended the Wild Turkey and Rattlesnake trails before eventually looping back onto the Swift Ridge descent. It was an excellent day of riding and exactly the practice that Keith needed.
Fall colors on Kyhv Peak 🍁 🤩
Lindsey wanted to get at least one more scenic fall colors drive in this week, so we hopped in the Jeep and headed up Kyhv Peak road. This is a local-to-us scenic backroad that takes you high above the Utah Valley floor. Along the way, you get to take in all of the beautiful scenery, including Provo Canyon, Utah Lake, and the southern Wasatch Mountains.

We made our first stop at the scenic overlook. This area is easily accessible by any type of vehicle, as the entire drive is paved. After taking in the sights, we jumped back in the Jeep and headed up the forest service road to the Rock Canyon Overlook. This is one of Keith's favorite places to stop when he rides his bike along this route. The views at the overlook were outstanding thanks to the vibrant fall colors.
Mexican date-night dinner 🌯 🇲🇽
On our way back home from our drive up Kyhv Peak road, we were getting hungry, so we decided to stop at the Mi Ranchito Mexican restaurant in Orem, UT. We had dined at this restaurant once before, so we knew we would be in for a treat.

Lindsey ordered the shrimp fajitas while Keith ordered the Pancho Villa meal (a combination of two tacos, a chile verde burrito, and a chile relleno). Both of our meals were huge and very flavorful. The shrimp were cooked perfectly! We each ate our fill and still had enough left over for another full dinner!
Shuttle lap on the Wasatch Crest trail 🚌 🚵♂️
On Saturday, Keith met with his friend Brandon to ride the Wasatch Crest trail. This is a super famous mountain biking trail that runs along the spine of the Wasatch Mountains between Big Cottonwood Canyon and Park City. They decided to shuttle this route due to the extremely limited parking near the start of the route.

The Wasatch Crest is absolutely stunning this time of year. The aspen trees were on full display as they shimmered a bright golden color in the morning sun. Keith and Brandon both took their time riding this route so that they could enjoy all of the breathtaking views along the way.
Eventually, it was time to descend off the ridge. Typically, Keith has ridden either the Millcreek Canyon descent or the Mill D trail descent. Both of these options drop you out on the Salt Lake City side of the mountain. However, this time, Keith was excited to descend on the Park City side of the mountain. Keith hasn't really ridden many of the Park City trails, so this would be an entirely new route for him.

All in all, the ride was incredible, the weather was perfect, and the views were amazing. You really couldn't ask for a better fall day in the mountains!
Girls' day out 👩 ☕
While Keith and Brandon were out playing bikes, Lindsey met up with her friends Stephanie and Anna for a much-needed girls' day out. The trio started their morning at Hill's Kitchen in Sugar House, UT, for some delicious coffee and breakfast. From there, they headed to the Fairmont Dog Park to walk Stephanie's dog, Miles.

Eventually, it started getting too hot to hang out in the park, so the girls took Miles to the Healthy Pets store in Salt Lake City, UT, to pick up a few treats. They then headed to the Tea Zaanti teahouse in Salt Lake City, UT, for a relaxing tea and some girl talk. Lindsey said it was a wonderful day out and she was glad to have some time to relax with her friends.
