This week, Keith replaced a worn-out part on his bike 🔧, we indulged in some afternoon treats 🥐, and Keith received a mini electric bike pump to review. 🚲

Keith replaced his MTB dropper post 🚲 🔧

Keith's mountain bike came with a KS Lev CI Dropper Post installed. This has been a fantastic seat post, but it has really started to show its age. After many thousands of miles of use, the seatpost began to exhibit significant side-to-side play and some fore-aft play. This unwanted seatpost movement has led to saddle discomfort during long rides.

Keith considered repairing the seatpost. However, after speaking with a couple of local bike shops and investigating repairing it himself, he decided that it was the better move to simply replace the seatpost with a brand new dropper post. After researching available options, Keith ordered a OneUp Components v3 Dropper Post. This dropper post is fully serviceable with basic tools, relatively inexpensive, and actually lighter than his old KS Lev CI dropper post.

The seatpost itself was a breeze to install. However, running new cables to it through the bike frame was a chore! The cable guide tool that Keith used to run the cable broke off inside the frame and was blocking the cable from routing correctly. It took Keith several hours, but he was finally able to locate and remove the broken part and get the cable routed properly. 😅

Afternoon treat at Tous les Jours Cafe 🥐 ☕

On Friday afternoon, we decided to treat ourselves to a combination of sweet and savory treats at Tous les Jours Cafe in Orem, UT. This French Asian bakery hand-bakes all of their goods each day. Lindsey has visited this bakery once before, but this was Keith's first visit.

After perusing the goods, we finally decided to order. For our savory snacks, Keith ordered a sausage and onion pastry while Lindsey ordered a mushroom and onion pastry. For our sweet treat, we shared a delicious blueberry and cheese danish. Lindsey also tried a cold strawberry matcha drink while Keith stuck with a traditional hot latte.

All of the food was amazing, and the blueberry danish definitely stole the show. Lindsey is still on the fence about whether or not she actually likes matcha drinks. She'll have to try a few more to make that determination.

Date night dinner at The Taco Spot 🌮 🍜

Originally, we had plans to celebrate our friend Brandon's birthday at Tuscany in Salt Lake City, UT. Unfortunately, we had to postpone the celebration due to his significant other not feeling well. So, we instead headed to The Taco Spot in Provo, UT to eat some delicious birria meals.

Lindsey ordered the Birria Burrito Bowl and Keith ordered the Birria Ramen. We also ordered a side of Surf & Turf French Fries to share. The birria meat was very flavorful and tender. The consommé broth was the perfect level of spicy/salty, and had just a hint of sweetness to it. The Surf & Turf fries were amazing! The steak chunks were delicious, and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. 🤤 This place definitely landed high on our list of favorite local taco restaurants.

Keith received an electric bike pump to review 🧑‍💻 🚲

Keith was recently contacted by a representative from CYCPLUS about testing out their new AS2 Pro mini electric bike pump. Keith has been considering purchasing a mini electric bike pump for some time now, so he was thrilled when CYCPLUS reached out to him.

Keith received the AS2 Pro this weekend and quickly tested it out on his bike. The pump is tiny, lightweight, and is capable of quickly inflating his mountain bike tires to his desired tire pressures. Keith will be daily-driving this pump over the next several weeks, including taking it on both upcoming gravel races, so stay tuned for our full video and blog post review.

No outdoor training rides this week 💨 😷

Due to heavy wildfire smoke all week, Keith was unable to ride outdoors. Even so, Keith still managed to get in some training rides thanks to his Rouvy Virtual Cycling subscription plan and his Stages SB20 indoor smart bike.

It's so important for Keith to have this fallback option of indoor riding. Otherwise, inclement weather, smoke, etc. could potentially derail his training and racing plans.
